- Very good design
- Waterproof to 1.5, dust proof
- Very good battery
- Display is awesome
- Incredible 20.7 Megapixel Camera
- Lead Flash is quite weak
- Battery cannot be replaced
- A bigger screen could have been adjusted here
- Speakers sounds are little bit low due to waterproofing
People who likes to use handsets with good spec but in small screen, these people need to use Xperia Z1 compact. Though it has smaller screens compared to other but it is well equipped with very strong spec to boost it up in the market. You won’t face a problem in playing high definition games or movies or application in this handset. People may complain about the bezels but that is the price we have to pay for the durability or strength of this handset. Let’s take a glance at the specs of Xperia Z1 compact.
- Display: 720 x 1280 pixels, 4.3 inches (~342 ppi pixel density)

The Sony Xperia Z1 compact is the miniature version of 5 inch Xperia Z1. This looks solid as it is made of aluminum body. This basically looks like iPhone 4s but more easy to handle because it has soft curves. Backside of this set easily gets scratches but you can use cases to prevent this from happening. There are many big screen mobiles available in the market. Not everybody likes big screen and Xperia Z1 compact is for those people.
This hand set is sleek, premium, not heavy. It is possible to use it in single hand. It’s body is designed in such a way with using the flaps to make it waterproof. This thing can become annoying sometimes, especially when you are in a dark room and you need to charge.
The button layout is quite similar like the Z1. It has bigger bezels which could be used in some additional use like touch capacitive buttons. The power button is perfectly placed however the button for volume up and down are plastic. It would be great to see some stylish metal buttons there. It’s 3.5 mm headphones plug are kept open so that you don’t have to mess around with the flaps to listen music.
Xperia Z1 comes with two new color along with the previous colors : lime and pink. Other colors are black and white. Pretty much like the Z1 but with deeper shade.
Sony Xperia Z1 comes with 4.3 TFT LCD display which is packed with 720p resolution (1280 × 720 pixels) . It has an amazing viewing angle. With 342 PPI it may not able to compete with bigger screens like Galaxy Note II but it is good enough for s screen like this. Actually 720p resolution is more than enough for this screen size. The display uses the quantum dots to render colors which helps it to achieve a vivid color, but not as well as super amoled. It has a better angling view as we mentioned previously which allowed it to take an edge over other similar priced handset.
Sony has claimed that their Triluminos display technology provides better and larger color palette than other manufacturer’s phone. And they proved it right. If you compare the colors depth and accuracy with iPhone 5s, you will see the difference. Especially it looks better on Sony Experia Z1 compact. It has been a great pleasure to see videos in Xperia Z1 compact rather than on iPhone 5s. Even though it’s brightness is not that vivid, but still good enough to watch stuffs.
Xperia Z1 compact is powered with Quadcore 2.2GHz Krait 400 with chip set of qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800. It has 2 GB RAM and GUI is Adreno 330. Its performance is quite better in context of other Smartphone’s performance. There is a downside of this performance, it gets hot easily but not like the Xperia Z1. If you run a video or a game for a long time you feel the hit. Well, Sony is clever also. They placed the processor such a way that you won’t feel the heat too much.
They designed in such a way that you can use most of the storage and with the micro sd card you can use a 64GB memor card and store a lot of music or movies you want.
Speaker: Built in speakers are not that of useful. Sounds are not that good rather it lacks clarity when you try the maximum power.
Love photography? Love to take some photos under water or love to take some portraits or landscapes. Z1 Compact’s large 1/2.3” 20.7 MP Exmor RS™ for mobile image sensor with the G-lens and intelligent BIONZ™ gave it an edge in the technology to compete with other competitors.

Xperia Z compact is boosted with the 20.7 MP sensor which is better than other same cost smart phones. Sony Xperia z1 is allowing the photographers to use the manual mode to choose their favorite composition through change the setting as they want in their way. To spice things up , Xperia Z compact is allowing the instagrammers to use some more filters or framing or little edit. This won’t need any photoshop skills to do these edits.
Xperia Z1 compact has 2300mAh battery which is good enough to sustain a day. Snapdragon 800 uses less battery charge to function which is a plus point actually. We are happy with this battery’s capability. And these are without using Sony’s power saving option.
We mad some call to check the sound quality and it turns out pretty awesome. It has an option to clear or reduce the noise from other side.
Nothing new to say about the Sony’s Timescape UI on the Xperia Z1 Compact. Sounds bad?? It is not that bad as sounds. Sony is trying to offer simple dashboard to users. They kept the home screen quite simple, but the app drawer features a quick pullover on the left top for some extra options. Normal drop down notification bar come sup with some powerful widget to do more than basic stuffs. They offered the Walkman and the album reminded us about their previous prestigious offerings. Sony might introduce some features they introduced int he kitkat running Xperia Z2.
