How to Install VanillaAOSP ROM Android 5.1.1 Lollipop in Nexus 5
If you are a proud owner of Nexus 5 then we got some good news for you. you can now flash a new VanillaAOSP custom ROM based on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) OS update in your Nexus 5.
However, official 5.1.1 has been rolling out for the users already though you can get the VanilaAOSP does not incorporate in Google’s apps and services.
Prerequisites:
- Your Nexus 5 should be rooted with ClockworkMod recovery
- Backup all of your important files by installing TWRP on the smartphone
- Install proper USB drivers for Nexus 5 so that it get detected in your computer
- You need to have at least 80% charge
- Note that your warranty will be void if you do this, proceed at your own risk
How to Install VanillaAOSP ROM Android 5.1.1 Lollipop in Nexus 5
Step 1: Download custom ROM . Download GAAPS
Step 2: Connect your Nexus 5 with the computer
Step 3: Now transfer the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop custom ROM zip file and Google apps .zip files into phone’s memory. You have to mandatorily paste the .zip file in root folder of the storage. DOn’t paste in any other folder
Step 4: Now switch off your smartphone and disconnect it from the computer
Step 5: You have to do the “Bootloader Mode” sortie by pressing Volume Up , Volume down and power buttons
Step 6: While in the bootloader mode, you need to go to the TWRP Recovery Mode, now perform full data wipe by choosing wipe data/factory reset
This has to be done if you are migrating from any other custom ROMs, however if not you can skip this procedure for dirty flashing that involves wiping only dalvik cache and cache when flashing an updated version of the same ROM you are running on the handset
Step 7: now clear the cache by selecting the wipe cache partition
Step 8: Now navigate to the recovery and then choose advanced and tap wipe dalvik cache (You can skip the step if you want but it is recommended to eliminate boot loops and other errors which might be encountered during the installation of custom ROM)
Step 9: Now go back to the main recovery screen and then select Install Zip from SD card
Step 10: Now tap choose zip from the SD card and navigate to the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop ROM .zip file in the SD card to enter into the installation process. Now repeat the same process to install the Google Apps. Now use volume keys to navigate and power button to select the option
Step 11: Right after the installation completes you need to navigate to “+++++Go Back+++++” and then restart your smartphone by selecting reboot system now which is present in the recovery menu
You Nexus 5 will take five minutes to finish booting.
