How to Fix Low Audio Volume On CyanogenMod ROMs

If you are using CyanogenMod then you may know that the sound might get crappy some times or the sound may be quite low. We will teach about How to Fix low audio volume on CyanogenMod ROMs.

There is a solution to solve this simple yet annoying problem. Please note that you need to have a rooted device. If you have a rooted device then you cna use this method. Right after getting the root access then it would be easy if you are in a custom ROM like CyanogenMod. In order to change the default settings for audio in the system partition . We are going to use a root explorer app .

Atfirst you have to download ES File Explorer from Google Playstore. Then enable root explorer in the app which is disabled by default. To do this you have to open the ES File Explorer, tap on the icon at the top left to open it’s menu. Then go to the Tools heading and look for Root Explorer option. Now tap on it’s toggle to turn it ON. You will see a pop-up , tap on the Grant to provide it to the root access.

System mounted as Read/Write , open for modification , navigate to the folder > Device> etc Sound . There is a file named to3g and tap on it. After that select to open it as “Text”. Now, choose ES Note Editor as your app to open it. After that look for the lines below an change their value to that given below:

• <ctl name=”Speaker Volume” val=”57″/> — Change its value from 57 to 63. If you find the sound too high at 63, edit it later to 60.
• <ctl name=”Output Volume” val= “xx”/> — change its value from xx (any number for you) to 62. These two were kind of must do changes, but you can also optionally change two lines given below.
• <ctl name=”AIF1 Boost Volume” val =”2″/>
• <ctl name=”AIF2 Boost Volume” val =”2″/>

This process will do the work for you. You need to save the file .

After this open the Root explorer settings again. And then select the RO option for /system this time. It is to remove write access from system. We don’t need it.

After finishing this you need to reboot your device to apply the changes we have made. Right after the restart has finished, you will see better sound levels.
