How to Unlock Bootloader and Root Asus Zenfone 2

Asus Zenfone 2 is an amazing handset from the Asus. I have been using a asus tablet for a long time and i am totally happy with it. Asus has gained reputation for it’s zen series. Asus zenfone 2 is a very successful and popular smartphone of this year. It has high specs and balanced price.

There is currently no bootloader for the Asus zenfone 2. However, there is a member shakalaca from XDA who managed to crack bootloader unlock method. Note that this is an unofficial method and risky method. We will show you now about how to unlock the bootloader of Asus Zenfone 2 and we will teach you how to root Asus Zenfone watch 2.

How to root Asus Zenfone 2

Note:

  • You can update via OTA
  • No boot loops
  • You don’t have to unroot before applying OTA

How to root Asus Zenfone 2

1. Atfirst download the Download & Install Asus Zenfone 2 drivers in your computer. You have to set up the ADB also.
2. Download this root tool which is a one click root tool for Zenfone 2 .
3. Now enable the USB debuggin of your zenfone 2 . To enable that you need to tap multiple time in the Build number is Settings > About. Then USB debugging under the Developer Options.
4. Now unzip it using the Winrar or 7zip then connect your phone to PC
5. Now see the extracted files and run the CheckBeforeAction.bat . You will be prompted to go to the next step
6. Now run the Root_zenfone.bat
7. Now your Asus zenfone 2 is rooted automatically

How to Unblock the Bootloader of Zenfone 2 (ZE551ML and ZE550ML)

1. Update your Asus Zenfone 2 to 2.19.40 update
2. Ensure that your zenfone 2 is rooted
3. Rechek whether ADB is installed and working in your PC
4. Now enter the following command in cmd window

{

adb shell
su
getprop ro.isn > /factory/asuskey
reboot bootloader

}

Now your phone will restart in the bootloader and after updating itself your phone will restart again and ASUS splash screen will be white. Note your locked bootloader is black, not white.

5. Now download the black splash screen and copy it to the adb folder. Note it will only work if the file is in under adb folder

6. Now navigate the the adb folder open cmd and type following commands

{

adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices

}

7. Your device must be listed at this instance. Now execute the following the command

{

fastboot flash splashscreen splashscreen.img

}

8. Now you need to restart your asus zenfone 2 and see the splash screen is black.

 

Now your Asus Zenfone 2 has an unlocked bootloader.
