Japanese Web retailer Rakuten bought Viber for $900 Million

Rakuten is known as Amazon of Japan. Recently they bought Canadian e-reader company kobo. And they are in headline again as they announced that they bought Viber along with the apps for Android,iOs and windows platform. That’s a huge news as the money to buy this service is quite high. THis deal was done at $900 million.

Viber is a competitor of skype specializing in voice and texts also. Viber was initially introduced in mobile phone and later on in Windows platform also. It allows users to do group chat and sharing photos also. It’s main feature is that it allows users to communicate in cross platforms. It has about 225 million registered users. 

Rakuten will try to use this popular application to make more money and establish themselves in international market.
